A family is searching for answers after two sisters were found dead while on vacation last Thursday.
Robin Korkki, 42, and Annie Korkki, 37, were staying at Maia Luxury Resort and Spa in a villa on part of Seychelles, off the cost of Africa.
According to Seychcelles News Agency, villa staff found the two women “unresponsive” in their room.
It’s believed the sisters were drinking the day before they were found and needed be taken by to their room by villa staff, according to a report.
“Preliminary examination done by the police on the bodies of the two Americans is not showing any signs of violence,” police spokesman Jean Toussaint said in a statement, according to Seychelles News Agency.
Both Robin and Anne were supposed to leave the day they were found and decided to extend their stay at the resort for an additional two days.
Chris Korkki, the women’s brother, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Annie worked in Denver and Robin worked in Chicago.
“At this point, the only details we know are the articles flying around online,” Chris Korkki told the Minneapolis paper. “My mom has been talking with people from the U.S. Embassy. I don’t think they’ve provided her with any information.”
An autopsy of the two women is being done and an investigation is ongoing, Toussaint said.
A Give Forward page has been created to raise money for the Korkki family to help send their bodies back to America and pay for funeral arrangements. The page raised $19,695 in just two days.
